Inside the Home of Designer Ashley Ann of Myne
We are huge fans of Myne at Spindle & Canister, from her silk dresses to breezy blouses, designer Ashley Ann has a great eye when it comes to prints and design. Apartment Therapy recently did an interview with Ashley Ann in her Los Angeles home. Read below about what inspires her and what are her favorite elements in her home.
Name: Ashley Ann – designer/owner of the clothing brand MYNE
Location: Hollywood Knolls – Los Angeles, California
Size: 1500 square feet
Years lived in: 7 years; bought it 2 years ago
My Style: My style is modern eclectic with a vintage twist. I love the simple lines of modern furniture but, for me it can feel very empty or stark. Adding vintage pieces mixed with Moroccan rugs and pillows really warms up a space and gives it more personality. Prints are a major part of my collection, MYNE, so I love incorporating them in my home décor.
Inspiration: My Dad has been in the furniture business all of my life and furnished our home. He has an amazing eye and taste. The inspiration for my house came from the home I was born in in Sausalito. I just added a few more streamlined/modern pieces to make it more contemporary.
Favorite Element: A favorite element of my house is the backyard/pool area. I love to entertain and have friends and family over. I’ve thrown some serious barbecues and parties in the backyard. It’s also a great space where I can come home, decompress and recharge.
Biggest Challenge: I think the biggest challenge for me is taking my time. In running my own clothing company, I’m used to deadlines of when collections need to be completed and when orders need to be shipped. In designing and furnishing a home, I’ve had to learn that it takes time and patience. Finding the right piece for your house cannot be rushed, and the satisfaction of finally finding it is priceless.
What Friends Say: My home has become such a hangout spot for my friends and I love that. My friend Elizabeth calls my house her ” happy place.” They say that the house has a great energy — being in the hills and surrounded by trees makes it a very tranquil place.
